Heat olive oil in a large skillet set over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, arrange pork chops in the skillet in a single layer.

Sear pork chops for 3 to 4 minutes per side until a deep golden-brown crust forms.

Reduce heat to medium. Add unsalted butter and minced garlic to the skillet. As the butter melts, tilt the skillet and continuously baste the pork chops with the garlic butter for enhanced flavor.

Continue cooking and basting for 2 to 3 minutes, or until pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F (medium-rare) as measured by a meat thermometer.

Remove pork chops from skillet and let rest for several minutes. Serve garnished with fresh parsley or thyme if desired.
